To enhance your yo-yo-making experience, try these “insider” tips from Clover’s expert quilter and Education Director, Carol Porter:

• The Oval Yo-Yo has 4 longer running stitches, one on each curve of the oval shape. When gathering the running stitches, make sure the deep pleat of these long stitches is folding smoothly to the back.
• Also, my favorite thimble (and I rarely wear a thimble) for making these yo-yo’s is the Protect and Grip. For a tidy center I pick up each gather and draw my thread through. This thimble gives me the traction I need to pull the needle through the fabric.
